Has your life become overwhelmingly busy? Do you find yourself struggling to keep up with the ever-growing ‘to do’ list? Has joy evaporated from your life and have your stress levels gone through the roof? You’re not alone! There is a whole ‘army’ of people like yourself whose lives resemble yours. It is perhaps time to pause...
It might sound like unwarranted indulgence but making time for inner reflection, meditation, relaxation, listening to calming music, mantra repetition, journaling, writing in your gratitude book, chanting, prayer, spending time in nature or any other practice that resonates with you and has a calming effect on you, is the way to go. Such activities allow us to decompress and take stock from a very different standpoint. They also make us realize that a little bit of self-care goes a long way.
So much of our daily existence is conceived through our 'autopilot mode' which robs us of life's beauty. Awareness is pushed aside and our subconscious mind takes over. Yet, it is the moment to moment awareness that sensitizes us to the 'magic' of life and reminds us of the potential the present moment carries.
There is no denying that our lives have become busier, more stressful and complex. And while we can’t eradicate stress we can learn to manage it. When our stress levels go down everything suddenly seems so much easier and we orchestrate our life from a place of conscious choice rather than autopilot. Find ten minutes a day when you don’t have to tend to anyone or anything and dedicate that time to nurturing yourself. There is a whole plethora of things you can do as mentioned above, just pick what speaks to you and turn it into your daily ritual because you matter!
